Summer 2023 Programs
Math Enrichment - Junior (Grades 4 to 6)
- Course Description: Students in small groups will embark on a virtual 2-week workshop experience. Students will explore various mathematical topics in a fun and interactive way. This workshop features dynamic classes designed to increase confidence with math word problems.
- Topics of Focus include: Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, Dividing, Fractions, Decimals, and Percentage.
- Mondays to Thursdays from August 21 to 31, 2023 - from 10:30am to 12pm (90 mins)
- Minimum of 3 students for enrichment workshop to begin. Price: $450.
- When you refer a friend to our enrichment workshop, you save $100.
Math Enrichment - Senior (Grades 7 to 8)
- Course Description: Students in small groups will embark on a virtual 2-week workshop experience. Students will explore various mathematical topics in a fun and interactive way. This workshop features dynamic classes designed to increase confidence with math word problems.
- Topics of Focus include: Algebra, Fractions, Percentage, Order of Operations, Integers, and Exponents
- Mondays to Thursdays from August 21 to 31, 2023 - from 1pm to 2:30pm (90 mins)
- Minimum of 3 students for enrichment workshop to begin. Price: $450.
- When you refer a friend to our enrichment workshop, you save $100.
Summer School Support (Grades 9 to 12)
- Designed specifically for high schoolers who are taking math and/or science in summer school this coming July (or August), this 1-on-1 tutoring program will help your child keep up with the accelerated pace of these 20-day courses.
- Also available for students taking a virtual math and/or science course with an accredited online school (i.e. Ontario Virtual School, Blyth Academy)
- Students will have access to key unit tests and practice final exams. In-Person Tutoring Available for families that reside in our region of coverage.
- We would be delighted to work with groups of friends. Invite your friend attending the same course in summer school. Get our confidence-building curriculum and expert tutors at a fantastic value.
Please note that:
- Group classes are non-refundable, with the exception of in the event of insufficient enrolment, where Math Doctor reserves the right to cancel group classes. In such a case, families will be provided with a minimum of 1-week notice and the option to take a credit or full refund.
- In the unlikely event of a teacher illness, a substitute instructor will lead the class for the day.
- In the event a student missed a lesson, a recorded meeting will be sent to your child for him/her to review.
Are you a parent concerned about your child’s struggles with math word problems?
You’re not alone. Many young people face difficulties when it comes to solving these types of math questions. Word problems require students to understand the problem, extract relevant information, and apply math skills to find a solution. However, this can be challenging as it involves language comprehension and mathematical thinking simultaneously. The good news is that our virtual summer workshop, designed for students from grades 4 to 8, aim to address this common issue.
Our fun and engaging instructors will guide your child through interactive sessions, helping them improve their ability to tackle math word problems. By joining our program, your child will gain confidence and develop valuable problem-solving skills that will benefit them in their math journey and beyond.
